A BRIEF HISTORY OF AEROMEDICAL EVACUATION FROM INCEPTION TO THE PRESENT DAY?

Throughout history, tried and true principles have governed battlefield medical intervention and extraction according to logistical and strategic necessity. The Army first used a converted Curtiss JN-4 "Jenny" bi-plane during WWI.  With the advent of modern technology, the US Army's use of the helicopter in battlefield "Med Evac" revolutionized such principles and paved the way for what has become the sophisticated inter-service regional and global Aeromedical Evacuation system we have today.  Decades of innovation, forward thinking, and sacrifice have coalesced into a rich and varied history of Aeromedical Evacuation.  This collection of articles and videos relates a part of your unique story, and more will be added as they are discovered.  Please click on the headers below to view the articles and videos during each period of time.
